Collection honouring Robert Paré for his 80th birthday

We are pleased to announce a special collection in Applied Categorical Structures honouring our friend and colleague, Bob Paré, on the occasion of this 80th birthday. Throughout his career Bob (Professor Emeritus and Adjunct Professor at Dalhousie University) has made several lasting contributions to category theory, including notable research in a broad range of subjects, such as double categories, higher categories, indexed categories, toposes and accessible categories. This collection will bring together contributions which honour the lasting impact Bob has made, and is making, in the category theory community. Submissions will be open from 1 October 2024 until 30 June 2025 at this link: https://link.springer.com/collections/dijeibfdbh All submissions on topics which celebrate Bob's work are welcome, including double categories, higher categories, indexed categories, toposes and accessible categories. The collection will be edited by four guest editors: - Bryce Clarke (Tallinn University of Technology) - Marco Grandis (University of Genoa) - Dorette Pronk (Dalhousie University) - Christina Vasilakopoulou (National Technical University of Athens) The publication process for this collection in Applied Categorical Structures differs from the traditional model for a special volume. Special Volume of MSCS in honor of Marek Zawadowski

Dear Colleagues, We are honored to announce a special volume of the journal Mathematical Structures in Computer Science celebrating the work of Marek Zawadowski. Marek Zawadowski (1960-2024) was a mathematician at the University of Warsaw. He received his Ph.D. from the Université de Montréal in 1989 under the supervision of Gonzalo Reyes with the dissertation “Théorie de la descente pour les prétopos.” He made fundamental contributions to category theory, logic, and linguistics. He passed away unexpectedly in February 2024. This special volume is a celebration of Marek Zawadowski’s work and welcomes submissions on a broad range of topics, including: categorical logic, higher category theory, and linguistics. The registration fee (£50) covers lunches and coffee breaks. Because of the capacity of the lecture room, the number of participants is limited to 80. Dear colleague, As you may know, FSTTCS 2024 (https://www.fsttcs.org.in/2024/) is going to be held in IIT Gandhinagar during 16-18 December. It is organised by IARCS, the Indian Association for Research in Computing Science, in association with ACM India. It is a very visible forum for presenting original results in foundational aspects of Computer Science and Software Technology. In continuation from last year, this year too co-located with the main FSTTCS conference, IARCS is organizing a Workshop on Research Highlights in Programming Languages (RHPL@FSTTCS). The focus of the workshop will be on all areas of Programming Languages, including but not limited to, Program Analysis and Verification, Applied Formal Methods, and Compilers. The objective of RHPL is to foster interactions between the attendees of the workshop, and more broadly between researchers working on Programming Languages and the traditional FSTTCS community of researchers working on Theoretical Computer Science and Formal Methods. Types post-proceedings: Call for papers

TYPES is a major forum for the presentation of research on all aspects of type theory and its applications. TYPES 2024 was held from 10 to 14 June at the IT University of Copenhagen, Denmark. The post-proceedings volume will be published in LIPIcs, Leibniz International Proceedings in Informatics, an open-access series of conference. Submission Guidelines Submission is open to everyone, also to those who did not participate in the TYPES 2024 conference. We welcome high-quality descriptions of original work, as well as position papers, overview papers, and system descriptions. Submissions should be written in English, and be original, i.e. neither previously published, nor simultaneously submitted to a journal or a conference. - Papers have to be formatted with the current LIPIcs style and adhere to the style requirements of LIPIcs. - The upper limit for the length of submissions is 20 pages for the main text (including appendices, but excluding title-page and bibliography). - Papers must be submitted as PDF via the EasyChair interface, accessible at https://easychair.org/conferences/?conf=posttypes24 - Authors have the option to attach to their submission a zip or tgz file containing code (formalised proofs or programs), but reviewers are not obliged to take the attachments into account and they will not be published. Good digital version of Marmolejo’s PhD thesis?

Dear all, Does anyone have a good digital copy of Francisco Marmolejo’s PhD thesis “Ultraproducts and continuous families of models” — either the original dvi/ps/pdf, or a good-quality scan? A scanned pdf is available online from the Dalhousie university library http://hdl.handle.net/10222/55092 , but unfortunately the quality is rather bad (never entirely illegible, but enough to distract seriously from the maths), and all other digital versions I’ve found are copies of that.
