Partial functor

Hi, A partial functor from C to D is given by a subcategory S of C and a functor from S to D. What is the appropriate notion of natural transformation between partial functors that would allow to turn small categories, partial functors and those "natural transformations" into a bicategory? 5-YEAR RESEARCH POSITIONS The Centre for Mathematics of the University of Coimbra (CMUC) invites applications for five 5-year research positions in all areas of Mathematics. Applicants should have a PhD in Mathematics and at least three years of post-doctoral experience, with an international-level publication record and demonstrated ability to perform independent research. Preference will be given to candidates working in one of the areas in which the members of CMUC are currently active. A very good command of English is required. The appointments will be made for three years, renewable for two more. Successful applicants are expected to develop research within the areas of interest of CMUC. They should also contribute to graduate studies, supervising students from the Department of Mathematics. separable locale

Recently rereading Fourman's "Continuous Truth" I came across the term "separable locale" but could nowhere find an explanation. Does it mean a cHa A for which there exists a countable subset B such that ever a in A is the supremum of those b in B with b leq a. This would be the point free account of "second countable", i.e. having a countable basis. Of course, second countable T_) spaces are separable, i.e. have a countable dense set. CALL FOR WORKSHOP AND CO-LOCATED EVENT PROPOSALS ICFP 2013 18th ACM SIGPLAN International Conference on Functional Programming September 22 - 28, 2013 Boston, Massachusetts, USA http://icfpconference.org/icfp2013/ The 18th ACM SIGPLAN International Conference on Functional Programming will be held in Boston, Massachusetts on September 22-28, 2013. ICFP provides a forum for researchers and developers to hear about the latest work on the design, implementations, principles, and uses of functional programming. Proposals are invited for workshops (and other co-located events, such as tutorials) to be affiliated with ICFP 2013 and sponsored by SIGPLAN. These events should be more informal and focused than ICFP itself, include sessions that enable interaction among the attendees, and foster the exchange of new ideas. The preference is for one-day events, but other schedules can also be considered. Radu was on vacation diving on the Great Barrier Reef in Australia when he apparently had a heart attack. He was 68. Best regards, Marek Zawadowski Samuel Eilenberg Centenary Conference Warszawa (Warsaw), Poland, July 22-26, 2013 Preliminary Announcement Samuel Eilenberg, one of mathematicians who shaped 20th century mathematics and made important contributions to theoretical computer science, was born in Warsaw on September 30, 1913. The Centenary Conference will be held in the city of his birth July 22-26, 2013. The intention is to cover all the areas of Eilenberg's great contributions: topology, category theory and computability. The categorical viewpoint developed by Eilenberg and his collaborators lies behind many recent developments, thus the conference will be of relevance to a large body of current research in mathematics. The program of the Conference will consist of plenary lectures and contributed talks covering the wide scope of Eilenberg's mathematical legacy. Some historical materials will be presented to illustrate social context of his life. The conference venue will be the old campus of the University of Warsaw, Alma Mater of Samuel Eilenberg. Already as a student Eilenberg was one of the most active members of the Warsaw topology group - he left Warsaw in April 1939, thus escaping the Holocaust. After several short employments at institutions in the USA, in 1947 Eilenberg settled at Columbia University, where he stayed until retirement in 1982. He was a member of the Polish and American Mathematical Societies and of the Polish Academy of Sciences. Samuel Eilenberg was an extraordinary personality; he was also a famous collector and expert in Southeast Asian art. He donated his impressive collection to the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York. The Conference is organized by the University of Warsaw, Polish Mathematical Society and the Institute of Mathematics of the Polish Academy of Sciences in collaboration with the American Mathematical Society and Columbia University. On the occasion of the conference a special volume of Fundamenta Mathematicae will appear, the journal in which Eilenberg published many papers, including his first (in 1934) and the last (in 1988) topological papers.
