Partial functor

Hi, A partial functor from C to D is given by a subcategory S of C and a functor from S to D. What is the appropriate notion of natural transformation between partial functors that would allow to turn small categories, partial functors and those "natural transformations" into a bicategory? 5-YEAR RESEARCH POSITIONS The Centre for Mathematics of the University of Coimbra (CMUC) invites applications for five 5-year research positions in all areas of Mathematics. Applicants should have a PhD in Mathematics and at least three years of post-doctoral experience, with an international-level publication record and demonstrated ability to perform independent research. Preference will be given to candidates working in one of the areas in which the members of CMUC are currently active. A very good command of English is required. The appointments will be made for three years, renewable for two more. Successful applicants are expected to develop research within the areas of interest of CMUC. They should also contribute to graduate studies, supervising students from the Department of Mathematics. separable locale

Recently rereading Fourman's "Continuous Truth" I came across the term "separable locale" but could nowhere find an explanation. Does it mean a cHa A for which there exists a countable subset B such that ever a in A is the supremum of those b in B with b leq a. This would be the point free account of "second countable", i.e. having a countable basis. Of course, second countable T_) spaces are separable, i.e. have a countable dense set. Examples of symmetric monoidal bicategories

Dear all, I'm looking for examples of symmetric monoidal bicategories (where the structure is genuinely weak, i.e. the various isomorphisms are not identities) and I would appreciate some help. -- Actually, strict 2-categories with (genuinely) weak monoidal structure would be even more interesting, but I found it almost impossible to find anything on that. As I am using these categories as models, I need some structure that is "concrete enough" to do calculations with (while being as simple as possible). Right now I'm considering the bicategory of rings (or monoids or fields), bimodules over them, and bimodule homomorphisms, where the monoidal structure is defined by the tensor product etc. (Pointers to detailed accounts of this category would be very much appreciated, too. I've only found fairly sketchy mentions in the literature.) I would be grateful about any other examples of this kind! The Wessex Theory Seminars are a series of workshops focused on theoretical computer science, and in particular mathematical foundations of programming languages. It is designed to be a joint seminar of Mathematics and Computer Science departments, and industrial collaborators. As you can see from the programme, the talks include proof theory, category theory, semantics, automata, security, complexity and logic. Truly something for everybody if not quite a few things. Two questions

Googling around, I have come on several claims that there are no non-trivial injectives in the category of groups (e.g., Mac Lane in the 1950 Duality for groups paper credits Baer with an elegant proof, but gives no hint of what it might be and Baer's earlier paper on injectives doesn't mention it). I have not come on any proof of this, however. Somewhere I have seen a proof that all monics in the category of groups are regular. I think it was in a paper by Eilenberg and ??? and it needed a special argument if there were elements of order 2. Can someone help me find this?
