Partial functor

Hi, A partial functor from C to D is given by a subcategory S of C and a functor from S to D. What is the appropriate notion of natural transformation between partial functors that would allow to turn small categories, partial functors and those "natural transformations" into a bicategory? 5-YEAR RESEARCH POSITIONS The Centre for Mathematics of the University of Coimbra (CMUC) invites applications for five 5-year research positions in all areas of Mathematics. Applicants should have a PhD in Mathematics and at least three years of post-doctoral experience, with an international-level publication record and demonstrated ability to perform independent research. Preference will be given to candidates working in one of the areas in which the members of CMUC are currently active. A very good command of English is required. The appointments will be made for three years, renewable for two more. Successful applicants are expected to develop research within the areas of interest of CMUC. They should also contribute to graduate studies, supervising students from the Department of Mathematics. I would like if sombody can tell me what it is known (or what he/she knows) about categories of fractions of regular categories. I imagine that if you have a calculus of right AND left fractions, then the category of fractions is regular, but what about if the calculus is only of right fractions ?. Postdoc position in Warsaw

A three-year postdoctoral position is available under the direction of Bartek Klin in the Institute of Informatics, University of Warsaw. The position is in the field of semantics of programming languages and process algebras, within the project "Modular operational semantics: a bialgebraic approach", funded by the Polish National Science Center. The applicants should have (or be close to completion of) a PhD degree in Mathematics or Computer Science, and be interested in topics such as semantics of programming languages, process algebra, formal methods, and/or category theory. The position is available from November 2013, but the starting date may be postponed on request of a suitable candidate. In addition, interested candidates are invited to apply for a postdoctoral fellowship at the Warsaw Center of Mathematics and Computer Science (http://www.wcmcs.edu.pl/node/41) with the rather short deadline of *** October 15th, 2013 ***. Exponentials in linearly distributive categories

Hi, everyone. Sorry about all the emails yesterday. I am now rested and can properly formulate an email. I am interested in linearly distributive categories with exponentials. That is the right adjoint of tensor. I was trying to find references on these, but was not successful. Google was not on my side. However, I decided to visit Seely's webpage and found the following: J. Cockett and R. Seely. Proof theory for full intuitionistic linear logc, bilinear logic, and mix categories. Theory and Applications of Categories, 3(5):85–131, 1997. The above paper covers what I need. If anyone has any other references they recommend I would love to read them. Question about proof nets

Hi, everyone. I am currently trying to understand (tensor, cotensor)-circuits from R. F. Blute, J. Cockett, R. Seely, and T. H. Trimble. Natural deduction and coherence for weakly distributive categories. Journal of Pure and Applied Algebra, 113(3):229–296, 1996. I am wondering if anyone can tell me what the significance of the half circle under the tensor in the circuit for tensor elimination? Unfortunately, I cannot draw the circuit here. It is however on page 9 of the above paper. At first I thought it was indicating symmetry, but this doesn't make sense. From there, take the "blue" line, going towards Snowdon and exit at Universite-de-Montreal metro station. You are now on the Universite de Montreal campus, a few minutes away from CRM. Look for the metro exit that takes you to a long mechanical ramp (like an escalator, but with no stairs), take it to the top and exit the building (it will have taken you up a big hill and to the front of building #14 on the campus map; the CRM is on the 5th floor of building #20.). Getting to CRM from the train station: At the train station, take the Bonaventure Metro going towards Cote-vertu, on the "orange" line. Change stations at Snowdon and take the "blue" line towards Saint-Michel. Exit at Universite-de-Montreal station. http://www.stm.info/en/info/networks/metro Getting to CRM by car: If you are travelling by car, take the "Decarie" Expressway (Highway 15) and exit at "Chemin Queen Mary Road".
