It is with great sadness that I pass on to you the news that Radu Diaconescu died last Thursday October 18. Dear Myles, Very sad. Radu was a nice person and a very good mathematician. He was your student. I keep wondeful memories of the category theory meetings he organised with Jon Beck in Puerto Rico.
