Dear all, I’m starting a project on categorical probability theory in September 2024 at University College London. We are investigating axiomatic calculi of string diagrams for categories of probabilistic processes (Markov categories), also with applications to Bayesian inference and probabilistic graphical models. Two postdoc positions will be soon available to work on this project at University College London, with starting date between October 2024 and January 2025, and end date August 2025 (with the possibility of extending for one more year if the project is approved for a second round of funding). Funds will be also available for travelling to conferences, workshops, and research visits. The project requires a PhD in Computer Science or Mathematics (or close to completion) by the starting date, and previous research experience in at least two of the following areas: applied category theory, probabilistic programming, (Bayesian) probabilistic graphical models. If you are interested in applying, please contact me directly via email at f.zanasi@ucl.ac.uk<mailto:f.zanasi@ucl.ac.uk>. -- Fabio Zanasi Professor of Computer Science Department of Computer Science University College London 66-72 Gower Street London WC1E 6BT United Kingdom You're receiving this message because you're a member of the Categories mailing list group from Macquarie University.
