Peter Freyd's old question "Does any simple group appear as a zero of the Riemann Zeta funxtion?" reminds me of the pleasing fact that it contains what philosophers would call a "category mistake". Pleasing because it's precisely the sort of mistake you can't make if you're working in a category. Peter Johnstone
