I do hope monads won! But I thought I'd share the story of that. At the same time Saunders was writing CWM, I was introducing operads. I coined that word as a portmanteau (look up Lewis Carrol) of operations and monads, and I persuaded Saunders to switch from triple to monad to go along. He was not an easy man to persuade. Peter May
