The Department of Algebra and Geometry at the Masaryk University, Brno, Czech Republic, announces free PhD positions. The scholarships are available for three years, beginning in October 2005. They cover modest living expenses and are supported by the project `Algebra and geometry: the reunion and trends in current Mathematics' of the Grant Agency of the Czech Republic. The research topics are: category theory, algebraic number theory, semigroups and languages, differential geometry, global analysis, algebraic topology. Possible supervisors include: J.Rosicky, R.Kucera, L.Polak, J.Slovak, M.Cadek, J.Janyska. The closing date for applications is April 15, 2005. The study will begin in September 2005.
