Galois and Hopf 2002 - final annoucement
Dear Colleagues: This is the final call for participation in the "Workshop on Categorical Structures for Descent and Galois Theory, Hopf Algebras and Semiabelian Categories" September 23-28, 2002, at the Fields Institute in Toronto. http://www.fields.utoronto.ca/programs/scientific/02-03/galois_and_hopf/ REGISTRATION Registration remains open until August 31, 2002, see the website. PROGRAM The program of the workshop will commence on Monday September 23, at 8:45am (opening session) and run until 1pm on Saturday September 28. A preliminary schedule will be posted shortly on the conference website. Abstracts of the talks may be viewed at http://at.yorku.ca/cgi-bin/amca/cajf-01 PROCEEDINGS The organizers invite contributions to - the conference proceedings, to appear as a volume of the "Fields Institute Communications" series, published with the American Mathematical Society, and - a special volume of the journal "Applied Categorical Structures" (Kluwer) on Descent Theory. Contributed papers (not just from speakers at the Workshop) to either volume may be sent to any of the three editors (pareigis@mathematik.uni-muenchen.de, janelidz@mat.uc.pt, tholen@mathstat.yorku.ca). Submissions to the "Communications" volume must follow the Author Guide available at http://www.fields.utoronto.ca/publications/author_notes/ whereas submissions to the Descent volume should follow the standards of "Applied Categorical Structures". All contributions will be refereed. The deadline for submissions to either volume is November 30, 2002. HOUSING Participants should arrange for accommodation on their own. Since tourism is still very active in Toronto during late summer/early fall, we advise participants to make reservations early and call the hotel of their choice soon. Mention that you are visiting the Fields Institute at the University of Toronto to obtain the special rate. Normally a credit card number is required to guarantee a reservation. There is a link to a list of conveniently located hotels and guest houses from the website given above. DIRECTIONS Consult http://www.fields.utoronto.ca/aboutus/directions.html for directions on how to reach the Fields Institute in downtown Toronto.
