Category theory NOT under threat
Apologies to all about my recent posting — there is no intention to phase out Category Theory as a Part III course in Cambridge. Steve Awodey will be visiting Cambridge next academic year and will give a Part III course on Homotopy Type Theory; because of this, there will be no room for my usual course in the timetable, and I was wrongly informed that this was because of a new policy of not allowing non-University Teaching Officers to give examinable lecture courses. I now know that there is no such policy, and I hope to be able to lecture again in 2027-8. Thanks to all who took the trouble to write to Ivan Smith, and apologies once again for having wasted your time. Peter Johnstone
