I believe Ehresmann (and some of his school) used "treillis local[e]" (sorry, I've lost the gender of "treillis" :-( ) for what Dowker and his followers later called "frame". You can see then how the English term "locale" might have arisen, from either a misinterpretation of (or, more generously, a simple borrowing from) the French. -- Fred ======================
