Did anybody apply the theory of categories to gene alignment problem? If you have 2 sequences then the alignment is a morfism. My impression is that many problems in genomic alignment can be formulated using the language of category theory (e.g., product = intersection of 2 alignments, coproduct = combining several alignments). If somebody knows any reference or interested in collaboration, please contact me. -Alexei Alexei Sharov, PhD, Staff Scientist Lab. of Genetics, National Institute on Aging (NIA/NIH) 333 Cassell Dr., Suite 3000, Baltimore, MD 21224 Phone: 410-558-8556 Fax: 410-558-8331 http://www.grc.nia.nih.gov/branches/lg/dgas/sharov.html
