The Centre of Australian Category Theory (CoACT) is currently advertising an 18 month Research Fellowship in Category Theory. This role is open to application by mathematicians who have a strong research interest and growing reputation in the field of Category Theory and whose PhD was awarded no earlier than 2008. The successful candidate will work on the Australian Research Council Discovery Grant entitled: DP1094883 Applicable Categorical Structures". The successful candidate will collaborate with members of Macquarie University's Centre of Australian Category Theory (CoACT) to advance the scientific program supported by this grant. As part of this activity the appointee will be expected to take an active part in the overall activities of the CoACT research centre, to present research progress regularly at the Australian Category Seminar and to publish papers in well regarded mathematical journals. Where appropriate the appointee may also be asked to assist with the mathematical supervision of CoACT's PhD research students. Essential Selection Criteria: PhD in Category Theory or a closely related area of Mathematics (or submitted); a publication record in Category Theory; a demonstrated ability to present research results at scientific meetings and to publish in the scientific literature; good written and oral communication skills. Desirable Selection Criteria: A background in Higher Category Theory or Monoidal Category Theory and their applications to Homotopy Theory, Algebraic Topology, Algebraic Geometry, Computer Science or Mathematical Physics.
