We are pleased to announce that the category theory portion of the Union College Mathematics Conference will be dedicated to Bill Lawvere and the 50th anniversary of his dissertation (see www.tac.mta.ca/tac/reprints/articles/5/tr5abs.html). In addition to an invited lecture by Bill, there will be contributed half-hour talks in his honor as well as in other areas of category theory. A general announcement for the conference follows: UNION COLLEGE MATHEMATICS CONFERENCE Schenectady, New York Saturday and Sunday October 19 - October 20, 2013 This is the second announcement for the Union College Mathematics Conference. This year the conference topics are algebraic topology, category theory, commutative algebra, differential geometry, and statistics. The meeting will begin with an evening reception on Friday, October 18, and end on Sunday afternoon. In addition to invited lectures, there will also be shorter contributed talks in parallel sessions. Anyone interested in giving such a talk should contact one of the organizers.
