The position is funded by the Engineering and Physical Sciences Research Council (UK) and provides support for up to 3 years of full-time research. The successful candidate will contribute to the project "New algebraic structures for computational effects", which aims to develop categorical and denotational semantics for general effects, for stateful effects in particular, and for polymorphism in effectful languages. The project will involve categorical structures, call-by-push-value and game semantics, so any background in these and related areas would be valuable.
